Are we in an echo chamber, or does ‘crypto’ really not have anything to offer substantially in terms of culture, values, ethos, and really presentation of a greater vision on a whole?

Maybe this is more of a xitter kind of question (as nostr really is a bitcoin echo chamber), but all of the web3 BS seems like just that. It all seems so flaccid and disingenuous. The lack of charisma around crypto vs bitcoiners just seems really stark to me, but then again, maybe I am just stuck in this echo chamber.

I'm nostr only, but yeah, can't disagree with you on that take...

"Crypto" seems really cringe and shallow...

My theory is that some people dig deeper and find Bitcoin adding to the network. Crypto is a just a step on the way that some people don’t get beyond? It’s annoying but for every 100 that buys a meme coin there’s 1 more bitcoiner in the making maybe.

Erik Vorhees is pretty much the only guy who has me believing crypto has a sliver of redeem-ability.

Hard to shit on this speech of his: https://youtu.be/2XlYSmIlpfs?si=Ow-JmqMs7o6tmYgd

I’ve always liked him and his blog was one of the only resources on bitcoin I could find back in like 2013. I’d say he’s part of the libertarian contingency of bitcoiners that are open to other ‘crypto’ options and tools—which are important, but also districtly separate from what bitcoin is.

crypto is an extension of fiat ‘consumerism’ ethos at10x speed

You can make a loyalty rewards system for a business I guess.

Making money by blindly following a blatant grift vs freeing humanity from the plight of a broken monetary system.

......Yeah, this is the echo chamber.

The tides of change move slowly.

Unfortunately, I look at crypto as a step towards bitcoin at this point (it didn’t use to be). Of course not everyone will take the orange pill, but I do think a significant amount will when they’ve had enough.

It started with the intentions of being a game instead of money, like Bitcoin.

‘Crypto’ is an accelerationist, fiat abomination. It will hasten the collapse of the existing proof of stake system that is underwritten by the decentralized, ethnically Jewish financial network.

In that way it is cathartic and merciful.

Maybe it's just a reverb chamber? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think it's an echo chamber at all.

Reading about enlightenment era classical liberals and 20th century libertarians has made me realise that what we call 'Bitcoin ethos' is simply a modern rendition of the powerful ideas from those movements. We're merely standing on the shoulders of giants.

The flame of liberty is going to burn brighter than ever before thanks to Bitcoin.
