people are being dramatic lol

Quick giveaway. That whalechart account is a long time a scammer but with somewhat different handles. Also he’s a long bitcoin FUD peddler.

Don’t trust anything he ever tweets

Thanks, guys. I truly appreciate the FUD-busting.

To be clear - wasn’t trying to spread FUD, just wanted feedback.

What doesn’t hard fork us makes us stronger.

Its not being dramatic when you have to trust your node partner.

This is only going to funnel traffic to your business because it's "trusted and regulated" while the entire lightning network model is compromised.

they went over this at the start of nostr:npub10uthwp4ddc9w5adfuv69m8la4enkwma07fymuetmt93htcww6wgs55xdlq yesterday. it's a big deal, but if you have to kyc (know your channel partners as nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx put it) to stay safe. the amount that can be rugged depends on the size of the channel. may also require some kind of collusion between attacker and miner.

also october 30 is when there will be additional public disclosure. note, the worst parts of this attack are already mitigated in current ln clients since this was responsibly disclosed almost a year ago. there was nothing "leaked". that part is definitely fud

Thanks, I have that podcast on my list for this weekend.

I saw that this wasn’t “supposed” to be leaked until the 30th, is there a reason why that is acceptable? Haven’t had a chance to listen to RHR yet

there's nothing about this that wasn't "supposed" to be public at this point in time.

So am I understanding you correctly that this was discovered as a new exploit, and there should have been some kind of report published on the 30th? Otherwise I’m not sure I follow and I’ll just reserve myself until I listen to RHR

the significance of the 30th is that the developer that discovered the vulnerability and responsibly disclosed it in december 2022, antoine riard, was doubted in the mailing list a few days ago when the disclosure was finally made public. in response to the doubts, riard says he will publish more on oct 30

I see, and thank you for putting up with my questions 😂

all good. dispelling fud is something that bitcoiners are used to, right? btw here's the quote from the screenshot in the original tweet. not sure why op decided to word things so strangely other than creating fud:

"

I'll be silent on those issues on public mailing lists until the week of

the 30 oct. Enough material has been published and other experts areavailable. Then I'll be back focusing more on bitcoin core.
