This was a display at today's funeral for Dad.

In his later years, even with dementia, he worked and kept busy. An electrician by trade, his passion was leatherwork.

In his last ten years, he made over 350 belts. All handstitched.

I am sorry for your loss. But...that is pretty cool. What are you going to do with them?

They were at the funeral for friends and family to take a souvenir and later make a donation to a local annual cancer awareness event called Haying in the 30s.

Wow...that's even cooler than I expected to hear. I carry the 1934 silver dollar my grandfather gave me ~35 years ago in my pocket daily. It's a joy/comfort to have these small mementos--to be able to touch what they once touched. "If we don't [actively] remember...well, then we'll forget."

That’s some proof of work right there 🫡

Everything went well ?

Honestly, there was so much laughter, it was hard to tell it was a funeral.

We did shed a few tears, of course.

That’s nice. Happy it went well, considering

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your father was really an exceptional man!

GJ Dad. Godspeed.

Oh wow!

Can I buy one for Sats? Wish to honor the work and the legacy he left behind.

Ditto

They are all taken, unfortunately. Dad's had over 200 people in his close family, and many more knew him through his work.

Something to be very proud of Rex.

Definitely 💯

Yes they are and hand stitched is insane work. Respect for the hard working man.

🔥🤙PoW ! RiP 🙏

Deepest condolences. His work is prolific and amazing!

My condolences, Rex 🫶

His Proof of Work remains eternal, embedded in the lessons he taught you. These lessons ignite the ambitious creativity you now possess, destined to be passed on to your sons.
