I have a plan to replace my email inbox with nostr. It’s going to be amazing.

Weird timing, just after the protonmail outage. You don't happen to use it? 😂

What protonmail outrage? What did I miss?

Ahhh - I just realized I misread your post : outage not outrage 🤦🏼‍♂️

There was an outage?

That's gonna be stunning & weird at the same time!

What if we could give each relationship we create a unique npub… instead of begging them to not send us email, we just stop paying attention to that npub

Yes.

#Plebhy

I have a different idea entirely

Can’t wait ! This will solve an annoying problem for a lot of people out there

Please tell me more 😁

💭

Um, yes, please.

👀

Interesting idea. Please, tell me more.

Gonna keep this one to myself until it’s ready… it hurts when my ideas are instantly implemented elsewhere when I say them out loud. I want to release some cool new stuff myself sometime 🥲

This gets me excited.

👀

Cool. Yes please. Any thoughts on making it secure ala e2ee/PGP etc?

Lightning is already e2ee

Lightning is not Nostr

Last night I was considering what it would be like to have #nostr delegates that run a small process on data and the result as events.

Sound like you could have a service that receives email and identifies creates a key pair for a sender. The worker publishes contact and content events to a private relay.

You're going to be amazing 👏

Fuck this got my ass tingling. Can't wait to ditch my email for something nostr-based

😂😂

How do you handle sign-ups?

There are no signups on nostr

No I mean if you want to “replace your email inbox” how do you sign up for sites and apps that require an email address?

Just use nostr.

Not helpful

Two scenarios I can think of:

1. The website would have to create a nostr account and you'd provide your npub for them to send you "mail" to.

2. If the website hasn't created a nostr account, maybe a bridge can be created that forwards any emails sent to an email address to a nostr inbox.

Thanks. So it is a theoretical future scenario

Could it be set up like PassTheSats?

You could have a relatively large cost (ex: 5K sats) to start a new thread, but pass the same value back when you reply, or just end the thread with a refund.

If it’s Spam you keep the 5K, and if you reply it’s passed back and forth until the thread is finished.

Comments on fountain cost sats, so it could be experiemented there, if someone replys to your post you can like their reply, thus giving them back their sats - minus the percentage fountain takes.

i have a plan to solve global problems through the use of satoshis and a long time preference.

on my todo list, something i mocked up ages ago:
