Part of me wants to get an actual camera 📸 that’s not a phone camera, but the other part doesn’t want to carry it or edit photos. Phone camera makes it easy to take a photo any time, you get crappy-ish quality but it’s good enough when viewed on a phone, and easy to adjust in seconds.

I think you only need one if you plan on blowing things up
Yeah the cropping on iPhone instantly makes potato quality with noise
After many decades taking photos, I think the best camera is the camera you have with you. I take many more interesting photos with my iPhone than when I had reflex cameras even though the quality is not as good.
analog camera ftw, although carrying it does suck sometimes when you want to travel light
Zeiss camera with editing seems good
Since I got my pixel 8 pro I've used my mirrorless far less, having the telephoto makes a big difference.
The main reason I pull it out are for longer exposure shots, and anything where a want aperature control, to either have a really shallow or deep focus. Basically the actual camera still excels for more artistic stuff, as you can take full control of aperature/ISO/shutter speed. For regular old snapshot the phone is usually good enough though.
I was looking through old photo albums the other day and missing how unpredictable the shots were. some were super blown out with flash but some had unexpected moodiness from being under exposed. The grain was charming and part of the photo, rather than a nuisance to be edited out.
different times man, different times.
The question is: Do you want to do photography as a hobby? In this case go for an actual camera. If you only want to save impressions and moments from your life a phone is good enough.
