All of these people yelling for “Tax Revolt” haven’t even bothered adjusting their withholdings to where they slightly owe the IRS and state money at the end of the year.

As opposed to withholding more than necessary resulting in a refund issued, which is what the vast majority of people default to doing.

All bark and no bite. Theatrics for clicks.

If you’re so mad, do something about it that’s nonviolent and targets the right entities.

The trick is to go from owing a coupke hundred to them owing you maybe $50. Dont give the gov a year long interest free loan.

I don’t know about the states but the real bite is the daily interest on balances owing. Adds up quick.

If you work it right the interest is negligible or you only get a negligible amount back. Just as close to a “$0” refund either way.

I was a dumbass and did that for the longest time, somehow thinking a big tax refund was the way to go. One year my wife and I were owed almost $5k but the IRS needed to “review it”. Took over two years to get the money. They gave us like $300 interest for the delay….which we got taxed on

Hence me saying “slightly”

I’m not advocating for zero withholdings

Maybe I worded that wrong, I’m completely agreeing with you. We did zero withholdings, like idiots, and got absolutely fucked

Oh dang lol yeah but tbh though it’s good to experiment with tests like that even just for learning opportunities
