Wow, that’s bleak. Not good seeing homes with still 2x cars on the drive.

Surely someone can get down there with a Starlink dish and a generator and organise search / help? Doesn’t seem like there’s much activity?

I remember being in Sydney in ā€˜94 and going to bed at night knowing the bush fires were less than a mile away. Knowing there was a chance I might wake up during the night in a fire. Everyone knew it was arsonists, but without proof it was a taboo subject. People would ask why natural fires hadn’t started inland where it was hotter and drier.

It's weird towards the end of the video, one side of the street looks fine, the other side of the street is completely gone. I wonder how that happens. Bless these folks

Having been through it in San Diego years back, it is the wind. When it blows hard it doesn't shift direction much. So when it picks up embers it blows them down wind straight.

The wind then intensifies when the 'heat wall' comes through which is when the air is hottest and carries the heat of what is burning nearby and upwind. The heat wall doesn't travel as fast as the wind - it travels as fast as things catch fire.

The result is the fire can have a narrow, straight path as wide as its source. Houses on one side of the street burn and on the other they don't. It is a bit surreal.

Terrible it looks like a nuclear bomb went off

What would you do if you woke up and your entire neighborhood was on fire….

Tough question not completely sure. Take the dogs and head towards the water. I hope your alright
