Formerly @codypd of Twitter/X now parked here. Just another one of those mensa weirdos who has become an absurdist because that's the only way I make sense of the world.

Having been through it in San Diego years back, it is the wind. When it blows hard it doesn't shift direction much. So when it picks up embers it blows them down wind straight.

The wind then intensifies when the 'heat wall' comes through which is when the air is hottest and carries the heat of what is burning nearby and upwind. The heat wall doesn't travel as fast as the wind - it travels as fast as things catch fire.

The result is the fire can have a narrow, straight path as wide as its source. Houses on one side of the street burn and on the other they don't. It is a bit surreal.

In San Jose del Cabo there is a pretty cool gallery that features sculpture from Sotomayor. He takes junk and spare parts and welds animals out of them and then uses an epoxy resin to color them.

They hold up very well outdoors, keeping their color for many years.

Here is a peacock he recently made. Zoom in to see the items he used.

This is cool.

A star that is estimated to be about 26 billion light years away from us has been identified by the Webb telescope platform.

Staying at the Westin Regina in SJ del Cabo.

This place doesn't have a room without an ocean front view.

You are good at this! Bonus sats!

42 sats to the first account that can correctly guess what country I am in:

I learned a long time ago to trade price.

That, after researching the hell out of stuff and figuring I was trading fundamentals when I found out I wasn’t.

Price movement is what I focus on now. Everything known is baked into the price and with BTC there’s little in the way of insider information.

Regarding that short, that rising wedge on the daily chart supports that position. My guess is it will stay in that wedge until 35 or 36k and then take a 50% haircut.

We will see.

You trade anything else?

A note to explain my handle -

"Cody Penn-Dent" isn't my real name.

When you sound it out it is "codependent" which describes some of my behavior in my early trading days where I would seek out postings on stock message boards to justify trades I had already placed that weren't working out.

Every noob does it and it is easy to get psyched out of a good position, hold a bad one too long or get over confident when trades go well.

So I used that handle to remind myself to post and read things that inform.

The name took when I was writing for a few finance websites and then I used it when I started a Twitter account in 2009-ish.

Be ungovernable.

LOL

Never going to put up content there again. Did for 12 years.

Got permanently suspended last week.

#BTC is showing a little life at the moment and may be preparing to clear resistance from the channel it has been in for the past month.

The 2 HR chart has been the most reliable for me and it is starting to turn.

#Bitcoin is in a broader ascending wedge that should last until sometime in November or December.

I have been swing trading it and, at the moment, am long.

For those who trade in and out of #BTC (or use #bitcoin to trade in and out of dollars)...

My most reliable charts for the past year have been the 5 minute chart and the 2 hour chart.

The 5 minute chart is lined up for BTC buys (USD sells) right now.

But there is a headwind on the 2 hour chart as it comes off the sugar high of the recent 30K love tap.

So an opportunity for some scalps.

Here are my current 5 min and 2 hr charts. I wrote the indicators (except the Bollinger bands)

Anything that puts an IP address between you and the endpoint is good, as long as you trust the source of that intermediary address. So, yes.

By the way ...

Here is how someone can find who you are IRL on NOSTR.

They post a link to an item on a server they control and mention you.

You look at alerts / notifications and the link in the note mentioning you is hit by your browser as it tries to display the item, like this picture form a Financial Times article I just read (I figured no one is going to go through the haystack in the logs at FT to find out who you are right now, so I used them).

Yes - vpns / tor provides a layer that is hard to crack, but I have also noticed Google is tweaking ads based on what I am doing here so I assume they've already started correlating public keys. I assume via chrome/android.

Anyways, be mindful anything networked is vulnerable.

So the geriatric shit-poster in Provo, who was about 300 pounds and used a cane to get around, but posed such a threat to the country that the FBI killed him in a no-knock, was reported to the feds by none other than Truth Social.

Facebook joined in too.

There are better ways to handle loud mouths in a free society (who have made the same statements for 12 years) than executing them.

Unsurprisingly, the details are slow to come out, and the ones that are first shared are those that are meant to justify the action.

Nonetheless, over the top venting on social media (including here) can be hazardous to your health.

With the Dora winds blowing from the east, all 4 of Maui's fires:

* started near a road

* started within hours of each other

* started without lightning or nearby power lines

Smells like arson. Wildfires don't start spontaneously.

Here's the map.
