Vanilla for now. I'm not paying for something I don't even know how to use.
I tried using vanilla on Sunday the 5th using Brave browser. It didn't work for me or the person testing it with me who was also using Brave. The other person is one or two orders of magnitude ahead of me in terms of tech savvy and coder skills and all that.
I'm a little confused because on the 5th I don't think I logged in and I don't think hivetalk worked for me. Then I temporarily abandoned trying to use hivetalk via Brave which was a new problem because I use Alby to prevent NOSTDs.
Then on the 12th, someone shared a screenshot of the little button on the right side of hivetalk's landing page so I retried using hivetalk on Brave with that button. I think the Alby handshake worked and then I was able to get hivetalk to work. My friend was able to use it without logging in on the 12th.
It's been confusing. Maybe that confusion is due to some kind of systemic glitch that had nothing to do with myself or my friend on the 5th. If so, that's very unfortunate for us. Anytime someone tries something new and that thing doesn't work, it's literally frustrating.
I can just throw darts and guess at what could have been the issue but to be fair, that image is very "busy" and the little button over there is very easy to gloss over visually. I would not expect for most people to notice that but perhaps that's my bias.
Also, now that I blindly stumbled my way through the login process, I don't know how to duplicate my initial issue because if I log out now and proceed to make a room, it worked, screenshare, mute controls, etc. are all available unlike what I experienced on the 5th.
That said, I won't be able to provide screenshots duplicating the issue but I can offer you a description of what I experienced. On the 5th, I created a Hivetalk room name without logging in on Hivetalk with my NOSTR ID. I shared the link to that room with my friend. We both got the same result which was basically a "white screen" within the browser's content display area. Now that I've had a few successful interactions with Hivetalk, I'm thinking that "white screen" was where the livestream's visual display would normally be but we weren't getting any visual content, no buttons, nothing.
Seems to be working now though which leads me to think that there was something glitchy happening somewhere in the process on the 5th.
