not sure what zbd is, just heard about... but yes, it's wrong π€£π€£ lesgo

Is ZBD a mobile app where there are no good options for login without putting the nsec in?
I now believe that ZBD is a scam.
You canβt export ur nsec if you create a nostr account with them
so basically the old backwards way of doing things where a company owns your identity
They have the nsec and you donβt in other words
lol. thats pretty nuts. so its creating a priv/pub, the user only ever sees the pubkey and it needs zbd servers to sign?
technically nostr, but certainly an antipattern to have escrowed private keys. Very big corp/gov like.
nostr:npub12262qa4uhw7u8gdwlgmntqtv7aye8vdcmvszkqwgs0zchel6mz7s6cgrkj knows more of the inner workings than me but yeah itβs messed up
Where links for nostr hardware wallet lol
As a person using the nostr:nprofile1qqsv73e7h6tndwngn3ccmc74auufpx722ldncw8rl8087hddljyw6mcpzdmhxw309ucnydewxqhrqt338gmnwdehv07p8s app to access Nostr, I know this. Have asked a few different ways for my nsec. Been told itβs coming, and I believe them. They have a different focus than other Nostr client developers to whom self-custody is a requirement.
I can see it both ways: get people straight on npub/nsec first, then using Nostr. Or get people involved in Nostr first, npub/nsec later.
I tried Nostr via Damus first and gave up.
I tried Nostr again via ZBD and love it because of the support the folks who built the current walled garden that is the alpha version of ZBD Social (ZBD is so much more than just a Nostr client).
My $0.02.

Right. All of this doom and gloom is a bit unwarranted. Let them build for Christ's sake. Things will be fine. And if they don't deliver, we can pitchfork.
I would never input my nsec into nostr:npub1earna05hx6ax38r33h3atmecjzdu547m8suw87w70aw6mlyga4hsqcja5j because I donβt know what they would do with it. They already said they would change my NIP-05 ID, and that was a nonstarter. I could only assume it would overwrite my relays as well. So I created a new account there to try it out. I like some aspects of the design and UX, but this could never replace any other client for me. Being a walled garden is one thing, but the geofencing and KYC makes it nearly impossible for me to use.
I'm not going to do that either, but Daniel, you and I are not the same as new users being onboarded now. We're an entirely different user. We used Nostr when it was essentially unusable, but we pushed forward because we saw the potential. Just like we have custodian for Bitcoin, we'll have custodians for social too.
If todayβs examples of ZBD users are a preview of the quality we should expect, Iβm not sure this is the potential weβve been looking for.
That sounds kind of elitist. Isn't Nostr for everyone?
It is, but I have to say some of the users coming through that door are more annoying than the airdrop bots, so Iβm going to proactively mute almost anyone with a ZBD address that I see.
Itβs like theyβre all reading off the same fucked up script lol
Eh. There's been some that think that they're all essentially dummy or sock puppet accounts set to look like they have a lot of users for VC reasons. But there's no evidence.
Thereβs a wide variety of us nostr:nprofile1qqsv73e7h6tndwngn3ccmc74auufpx722ldncw8rl8087hddljyw6mcpzdmhxw309ucnydewxqhrqt338gmnwdehv07p8s users, like any community. I canβt help with code, but I can help with content. My value isnβt determined by my Nostr client. #nostrlife
This is my fav bopper.
I deleted my ZBD account. Couldnβt marry the disconnect lol
Lfgggggoooooo! π«
that bopper looks a lot like my seed oil bopper
Love what youβre doing!! Gonna sign up π₯π«‘
