Is there a good replacement for meat? I never could find one.

I don't replace meat with substitute products. I try to eat as few processed products as possible. I pay attention to the composition of the nutrients. Vergan is not fundamentally healthy, but eating meat is not either. If you eat highly processed foods, sugar and stuff like that, it's always unhealthy. Whether with or without meat.

Agree with all! Though, much found in a vegan diet has to be processed (like cooked) in order to digest, or have very little relative nutritional value. But getting rid of all the hyper processed stuff is a great step for all.

Anything you can eat raw is probably good for you (as long as you have a good or no reaction to it).

I cook my food, of course (lentils, beans and stuff like that). And it also took me some time to figure out what is what I call an optimal diet. But I always have to laugh at the many prejudices. I'm rarely sick (although I travel all the time and meet a lot of people), plus I do a lot of exercise and at a high level. I can now tell that I am much happier and have overcome all the bad since I live vegan, but of course that's nonsense.

Much data supporting vegan diet comes from animals that eat their own poop to give a second shot at extracting maximal nutrients. Data doesn’t apply to humans. No one way of eating is the best for all members of an entire species.

You can take vit b12 daily with vegan diet and that will lower the side effects of feeling down and not having enough energy with consuming strictly vegan food. We suggest these for pt’s on vegan/vegetarian strict diets @jack

Vitamins aren’t a cure to anything. Similar to the d vitamins that help regulating ca+ and lowering depression/ anxiety naturally the b 12’s help with peripheral strength (nerves) especially useful for vegetarians or t2dm

all you need is rice; clean-energy: higher-productivity. ( non-diseased; non-zombie; non-parasitic ); chipotle / subway has really gold clean-energy inputs relative to diseased-organix.

I think that's very absolute. I also think that nutrition is something very individual and personal. I can say for me that I feel very comfortable with veganism (briefly check my hair, nails, blood levels...😂)My diet gives me the energy I need and keeps me very healthy. But I wouldn't tell anyone how to eat.

Most eating restrictions started from religions, some say to create segregation.

I think many lose track of “what feels good” should be the goal.

For me, dropping gluten and being moderately keto feels great, specially for less active winters. Love wine, cheese, nuts, and some vegetables, so full carnivore even though felt healthy didn’t make me happy.

Best path I found was to take 2 weeks and go down to one ingredient. Only eat that single thing for 2 weeks. This establishes a clear baseline. Then add ingredients in one by one to see how your body reacts. Bottoms up experience-based diet.

Different strokes for different folks…what may work for one person doesn’t mean it will work for others.

That’s what I hear to be BRD approach. Maybe when the kids are older I will find that discipline. Cooking for them pushes my self restrain to the limits 😆

Elimination diet is a proven way to verify any food intolerances. But I’m with you - mostly animal products, but love bread, seasonal vegetables and baked good 🤷‍♂️

How do you choose the first ingredient?

Yup. Practicing this made me realize what I could do without. My fiancé and I did a reset end of last year. Our base was beans. You can do so much with beans. I really love sweets so she started making chocolate chip brownies out of beans. I think a reset from time to time is healthy

I think Buddhists eat one meal a day, strictly before noon. Most monks go around for alms and only eat whatever is given. As per them, expectation of certain kind of food is a hindrance to attaining peace. Buddhists eat meat but certainly they don’t kill any being that neurally emulates pain.

The truth is, the science is pretty clear in that we need our bodies to juggle back and forth between fasting/repair and nourishment/growth phases. I think the ultimate way forward will end up being a retreat to eating habits of less civilized days… less about what you eat and more about how you eat.

In which case would a western medicine practicing doctor suggest that? You go to a doctor when you’re sick, rebuilding ones gut health… always soup.. nothing else.. from there you build.

For 4 weeks thats like training the gut brain to return to the “sickness” every time when the ingredient is eaten. Wouldn’t follow my logic from a few yrs ago. Every longer standing and healthier healing approaches like TCM Ayurveda etc will tell you differently. Unless I missed something big in that area…

I was in a physician-led program. Led to better sleep, energy during the day, and some weight loss.

Thats awesome that you got so many positive things out the program . I went the route of diet change, sports and TCM and any sort of holistic things I was able to find at the time. To me most physicians are nuts if they normalise it for themselves that cutting into humans is something that isn’t totally insane. But I also see that theres a new wave that have the possibility to see beyond. Just not enough yet. 🤷🏻‍♀️
