Sex workers often face financial discrimination and restrictions from traditional banking systems. Nostr and Bitcoin's censorship-resistant nature allows sex workers to transact and communicate freely and maintain their financial privacy and freedom. Without the risk of accounts being shut down or funds being frozen, they can confidently manage their earnings without interference from third parties. This is why I'm so excited to see a group of sex workers joining Nostr today. They need decentralized and censorship resistant money and communication more than a lot of could understand or experience. We're building these tools for everyone, especially for people from their community. π€

Nobody is free until we are all free! Even if someone is not for you, either welcome or move on. If you can't handle their content, or taking responsibility for blocking it yourself, then you don't actually embody the ideals of nostr you think you do. People forget that lack of censorship also applies to those they don't agree with.

Most are debasing themselves for less than minimum wage. Worse, when they finally realize the people paying them are paying for their entertainment through the womanβs debasement thereβs no going back.

I really appreciate your view on this. A lot of my fellow trans people have issues with censorship especially in employment so many of them turn to sex work to get by. Nostr really feels like a level playing ground for all to be heard and allowed to exist without bigotry raining down upon them.
Good point, Derek! I remember the times about 5 years ago when I was selling Bitcoin at Localbitcoins and Paxful for Amazon gift cards. Most of my customers were sex workers, not very experienced, but they never cheated !
