I can help Nostr build the world's largest, most-decentralized, eventually-consistent-sorta data store, and have it actually work.

I cannot help Nostr do that while running buggy, neglected software. The software quality is the easiest systemic risk to reduce. That removes a lot of unnecessary noise from the system.

Nostr needs to decide if it is ready to grow up and enter the big leagues, or of it wants to remain a bunch of Toys for Boys.

Let me know how I can help.

as i just mentioned a few minutes ago to nostr:npub1g49uyac6d83sss7sln8aumsstle7m3wxwwvc8mmpqsnr8e9f2cdq6ltqvs nostr literally is like the distributed database part of shitcoins - without the token

in actual fact, the consistency of any given segment of the data can be engineered to be however you want it to be, that's part of the reason why it prescribes no consensus

negentropy is a simple, fairly naive example of parts of a replication protocol, there is many other ways to do it, including broadcast/subscription models and an on-demand or pre-emptive caching model, there's garbage collection and geographical and affiinty group sharding as well, and taht's just *inside* the nostr protocol, the databases themselves can also run Paxos, Raft, or even pBFT or similar replication protocols while relays serve up data from these replicas

Like it or not, there is no “Nostr needs to decide.” The decentralization and absence of significant capital investment gets in the way of any true leadership. I understand Jack’s reason for not wanting to be the “CEO” but a handful of developer grants isn’t going to cut it.

You don't need money or centralization to be a leader. Jesus taught us that. You just need a more powerful message and a convincing group to spread it. And that group needs to be tireless.

We are simply going to knock on dev doors, until the quality improves.

Sorry to disappoint. I am tired. Was up for hours watching Bob Ross with a cranky baby

You get a new baby tired pass.

Also, for the record, nobody (and we have applied to two different Nostr-y funds) has been willing to fund our development and we are still here. And lots of the projects that were funded are no longer here.
