โšก๏ธ๐Ÿšจ Google CEO: "We have the most advanced quantum computer in the world."

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Sundar Pichai:

โ€œThe progress in quantum is palpably exciting - weโ€™ve been focused on it for a long time; I think we have the most advanced state-of-the-art effort anywhere in the world.

The latest breakthrough we had, we were able to perform a computation in 5 minutes that would have taken one of the world's fastest supercomputers over 10 billion years - it's longer than our universe has been around.

I would say the quantum moment reminds me of where AI was in the 2010s, when we were working on Google Brain and the early progress."

What kind of computation is that would have taken 10 billion years?

What exactly are they working on?

I was wondering the same. Probably as a test just a useless calculation trying to solve some sort of prime number?

10 billions years of calculations with "super computational" power?

I mean who and why someone would need to go that far?

Our world operates "fairly well" without this kind of computational power.

My mind goes to genome engineering related stuff.

Not having any clue here, just an instinctive thought.

When a guy comes with the argument that he has the biggest d*ck, you know that turns out!

But will they use this technology for the good of humankind or just to improve their stock price...

If he got the age of the universe wrong by 38%, can ya take anything he says seriously?๐Ÿ˜‚
