Was wondering if it's just that back then there were far fewer flights and it was just upper middle class and above flying. Plus the obvious novelty of it I guess, vs now it's a numbers game for the masses who shop exclusively on price. Still hard to understand how adding a couple bucks for decent food would be a bad move. There's no way some of the dishes I got were enjoyed by a single person on the flight

The whole attitude and culture of our society has changed. Religion plays a big part in that. People from the bottom to the top are far too driven by usury and materialistic/monetary goals rather then higher values.
Puzzles and I finally made the decision to stop fucking with airline food. Now we arrive early and fine a nice sit down restaurant (at the airport) and fill up right before we board.

We are at airport ahead of time too, but got scammed twice! Sat at a Mexican place that looked decent and got the worst Mexican food I've ever had (smelly meat that was dry), for 60 dollars. Didn't finish, and decided to get a quick kfc crispy sandwich (yeah yeah, don't judge, options were limited) and that too was awful. 80 dollars down the drain and was not just hungry, but also angry
So far, we have not had such luck 😂
A good rule of thumb is to pick Italian every time. Much harder too fuck up a pasta or pizza dish 🤷♀️
Was our thinking with Mexican. Had PF Changs at lax a bit ago, thinking it'd be worth the cost, but it was a pretty bad version of it and pricey.

even if we are lucky and it doesn't happen in our lifetime, long term being stuck somewhere there is no refrigeration, sanitation, water mains, or heating/cooling from electricity can happen to anyone. plenty of examples of this, some "true story" movies have been made about people who crash landed hundreds of miles from civilisation stuck in the middle of rainforest, or get shipwrecked.
modern society has inured people to comfort and ease, and nowhere near enough is being done. there should already be hundreds of large underground cities across the planet if people actually understood what a geomagnetic excursion is.
I honestly haven't looked into it at all, other than to have heard since long ago that magnetic poles do flip every so often. No offense to you, but speculating about it being imminent just feels far fetched and like doomerism porn. So I've opted to not look into it at all
