It's not so much giving up on, there are just real, practical limits that I am running up against. Eventually, I'm going to have to give up on kids. Eventually, I'm going to have to give up on any semblance of "normal" living.

And I don't want any woman, I want one that will be a good companion and not be a cause for compromising any of my core beliefs. I refuse to do that and that's why I am now where I am in life, since my ex went full nutter.
These are good qualities, but you can be flexible without compromising your core beliefs. Relationships are give and take. It sounds like you were a giver and ex was a taker and you got burned.
