Money is the root of all that is good (which unfortunately still doesn't redeem most churches). Our dealing with others can be centered around money & trade, or violence & coercion. Good vs evil. Where trade is restricted & condemned or eroded via inflation, violence & coercion take over.

If is the love of money that is the root of all kinds of evil, and what is implied is the love of money is as opposed to love of God and neighbor.

I agree, it is evil to prioritize money over reality. Money is only a reflection of value creation, so to love money independently of the value it represents leads to theft & corruption of all kinds.

But an honest problem solver earning sound money should love & appreciate the money he has because it is the symbol of his understanding of God/reality & ability to *create well* & help his neighbor as a result.

I may still object to the object of love being the money and not what it represents or for whom it is earned. I understand loving some intermediary, but only insofar as it is properly understood as an intermediary and not the ultimate object of said love.

To illustrate, I love food, not as the ultimate object of love as if I were to serve it but insofar as it brings pleasure and sustenance to me and those whom I love. In this sense I have no objection to what you say.
