Nostr Web Client

Is there a LinkedIn like professional network or job board built on Nostr? If not, is anyone building one or thinking about it? Anything concrete beyond jobstr like hashtags?

I know a lot of folks here think of LinkedIn as one of the cringiest platforms ever created, but given its current level of enshittification, there's certainly room to replace it. Plus, it would do wonders to advocate for Nostr outside of BTC and crypto circles and attract folks that otherwise wouldn't touch Nostr. As far as I can tell, ActivityPub doesn't have a LinkedIn alternative either, so Nostr could be the first decentralised LinkedIn replacement, or at least one of the first open alternatives.

I think linked in is cringe because it's full of corporate boot lickers virtue signalling to their overlords. I think that's the last community to get onboard with nostr. However, that kind of social control lends itself to being disrupted. A network of professionals building on sovereign information and money could catch on and create a renaissance.

Yes there is a a site, I haven't used it in a while. It was one of those fire and forget. The developer abandoned it (he's a funded dev and moved into other projects) and no one seems to use it or advertise to it.

Linkedin is awful. They made me install an app (had to borrow a device with play services) then they wanted a selfie, a picture of my drivers license AND a picture of my passport. Run by a 3rd party. I said GFY and they locked my profile. I can't log in or ask for support. You can't get support if you can't log in.

Sorry for your awful experience. You are not missing much. Most jobs are fake, the tool has became increasingly buggy and the algorithm basically burries everything but product and sales people pedaling GenAI. LinkedIn surely has seen better days. Do you remember the name of the abandoned site by any chance?

No need apologize for big tech panopticon. I've noticed that about everything. Seems like you kind of need to know someone to get a job these days. Most listings everywhere are "fake", even ones listed on company websites when applying directly.

The Job board is done, now building out the opportunity for Freelancers to post their Services so both directions will be available (Jobs and Bids on them, Services and Orders on them).

I would say we're 90% done with the MVP but I've already used it for multiple Jobs (and a handful of others).

Sounds like a good time for a second attempt, especially with a focus on vetting crypto projects and jobs.
