My gut feeling is that the next several generations of kids will become obedient little puppets that are highly suggestive and fall in line easier. Probably more prone to commie influence and totalitarianism.

I'm proud of my grown kids (25 & 26). And all their "misfit" friends. In observing them recently, I realized that we DEFINITELY broke it all. It's not our fault, our baby boomer moms had to work (I was a "latchkey kid" at 8 and had to take care of my little sister after school). So WE worked... because we always imagined that's what mommies do. So that's TWO GENERATIONS of kids who were feral AF (me) or raised by strangers (my kids). Of course they hate their parents and any adult who dismisses them. BUT if you're lucky enough to gain their confidence, the reward is IMMENSE. They are waaaay fucking smart AND very wise-- they understood that this was all broken a loooooong time ago. That's why they look disinterested --it's a defense.
But I also believe THEY'RE going to make it right. Either they'll be super-queer (and thus NEVER EVER have babies) or super-certain that they want to be at-home mommies.
Either suits me fine.
In both cases, I'm confident they won't be sheeps. They're too wise for that.
The variable is that since the pandemic we have more dad engagement with children than we have had for a very long time. That could have some wildly positive effects.
Maybe in Japan but not in the U.S.
I honestly think it’ll be a little better. These kids are assholes right now growing up with a shitstorm of internet content and memes. The media they are exposed to is less controlled and the conspiracies are falling through the cracks.

I feel the opposite. Our kids are slightly feral and most of their friends are too (small sample size obviously).
But the overall trend (in thr US at least) is towards more homeschooling and less indoctrination.
There is definitely a bifurcation happening where the govt school kids are super obedient while the homeschoolers/alt schoolers are pretty wild and need to know why before they do something
Yeah been thinking about this and arriving at the same conclusion.
It feels like a concerted multi-vector attack on critical thinking and self-reliance via books Percy Jackson to DuoLingua to brain rot being presented as immersive storytelling pushing tolerance and inclusion while actually weapinzing tolerance and inclusion to direct and even undermine self interest in rational deduction and self regulation.
Hopefully human instinct will be stronger than behaviorist algos. Homeschool early, while your voice still matters to your kids.
