Does it matter tho. People need the private key to decrypt each message

Everybody was worked up because it reveals metadata: who is messaging who, when, how many times, etc...
But the real kicker was someone claimed that the DM's use weak cryptography that gets weaker with each DM. AFAIK these claims were not supported by evidence.
