Since I went barefoot and minimal barefoot friendly footwear I never had lower back pain or hamstring issues again.

Magical.

Whereโ€™d you buy the footwear from?

Barefoot most of the time, or earth runners. Then when I have no choice crocs (chainsaw), Lems boots for 0C or less.

Vivo barefoot make some good ones.

Similarly resting in a squat position got so much easier for me too

Knees?

Yes grounding actually works itโ€™s crazy

I ground regularly but with hardware in my lower extremities barefoot is too hard on my legs. Wish I could ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™ƒโœŒ๏ธ

Achilles problems?

Same here. Vivo barefoot only (or actual bare feet). No more back pain, and no more flat feet. It takes a while to adjust, but your whole system benefits in the long run

makes sense since most (mainstream) shoes are just not the shape of a foot. ๐Ÿซ

I have been wearing wide toebox and barefoot shoes since four years now. Best choice ever ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Can highly recommend everyone try it.

Start slow though 2 a week for a few weeks, increase to 3 times a week and so on, before you wear them daily.

What was your primary footwear before?

Blundstone and crocs

I see. Even slightly elevated heels jacked your back up. Thanks for sharing.

I went to college with a guy that came to class barefoot everyday and went everywhere like that (and his feet were black from it! I don't know if he washed them ๐Ÿ˜ณ). I wonder if he stuck with that after all these years?

I donโ€™t own shoes or socks- always be grounding ๐Ÿ’ช

Took me about 6 months to build up the foot strength, but completely fixed my back and hip issues too. Barefoot is life.

These are a cheap option during the times you can't be barefoot (basketball and vball)

Thatโ€™s one of the best thing about living in Hawaii. Shoes not required.

Legit? that's so interesting.. what's the science behind it?

Your feet were designed to do the work not the shoe

Spread the word

I also find working at a desk that can be raised and lowered works wonders for the back.

What footwear would you recommend in colder climates?

How cold?

Around 0 degrees celsius

I love being barefoot. But I will say I stub my toes a lot more. My second toe is bigger than my big toe so I use it as a battering ram way too often.

I also try and hike barefoot as much as I can. It slows me down for sure, but thatโ€™s not a bad thing. It helps me be more mindful and hike for enjoyment of nature not as an opportunity for my competitive side to run away with itself.
