i do not feel comfortable telling people to run knots until it has better review and release processes in place

if you do not want to relay larger op return transactions then run core v29 (the most recent version of core) and do not update to v30 when it is released

alternatively you can run v30 with a modified config file

i think luke, mechanic, and most core contributors mean well and care about bitcoin

long term i want to see more well reviewed bitcoin implementations exist, more choices for node operators is strictly better, this is one of the reasons i have donated my time to build out opensats

i think this ‘debate’ has mostly devolved into social attacks and is mostly unproductive

i do not think it matters much for the global bitcoin network which client you run, in this specific situation

People that think that the only way that #bitcoin mining can survive is extra fees from inscriptions, don’t understand free markets, nor the difficulty adjustment.

If all prices fall to the marginal cost of production in a free market, and bitcoin is the first global free market that has ever existed, then block rewards are alone enough to keep a robust market for mining.

Why: because relative to Bitcoin (open, decentralized, secure, protocol, bounded by energy) the rewards are the same in 2130 as they are today because all prices are falling forever.

It’s hard to even imagine the abundance in that world or “money” that you would need because your reference frame is now and the past, but can you imagine our descendants (from that place)- ever changing back to this one.

Just a friendly reminder that creating different incentives, changes behaviour.

In the long run, this bitcoin core drama could be good for the network.

We’ve depended a lot on Bitcoin core and it’s one of the most centralized aspects of bitcoin. Going rogue was inevitable and I’m surprised it took this long tbh. Even if Bitcoin core doesn’t push this update, people are switching to alternative options which decentralizes the network further. This is a good thing.

Remember that you don’t have to make a decision right now. You do not have to update your node. If you’re unsure about where to stand or don’t really understand the issue, you don’t have to do anything. You don’t have to form an opinion right now and you can always change your opinion later. I don’t completely understand this issue and kind of don’t care to understand. I have a fucking life and I’m not going to get all bent out of shape every time there is drama with devs and other bullshit. I remember wasting so much time trying to understand ordinals and if I just spent time with family, stacking sats, and touching grass it would’ve worked itself out. I don’t even remember the other retarded thing they tried implementing. The point is that things will work themselves out with time. The best course of action will become very clear eventually and just waiting will save you a lot of headache.

Black Mirror Season 7’s “Common People” episode feels terrifyingly close to reality. In some ways, that level of corporate control over people already exists—just look at the banking cartel or the pharmaceutical industry. But with the rise of technologies like Neuralink, Big Data & AI, especially if twisted into something more sinister, that control and greed could be pushed to the extreme. The struggle for everyday people to live decent, dignified lives will only get harder.

The battle for what kind of future we end up with is happening now.
