If on chain fees are too high for your transaction needs, then you need to move to lightning, fedi, liquid, etc...
Someone sees value in on chain block space right now.
In the future, after mass adoption, transacting on chain will (hopefully) be an expensive proposition reserved only for those that can afford it.
People see value in Shibcoin, doesn’t mean it’s good or we should support it. If Bitcoin transaction costs naturally grow with user adoption fine, and likely that will be fixed also (ex. segwit).
In the meantime, exploiting the blockchain so people can make money filling blocks is not good for basic Bitcoin transactions..
Who are you decide what is or isn't a good or ethical use of block space? Transaction fees are a market. If its too expensive, dont participate. The upgrades that enabled this are in the past. We allowed this to happen, its not an exploit or attack, but merely a cautionary tale to learn from and move forward. As soon as you start talking about censoring any kind of network transaction you diminish the entire network.
I’m not deciding, I’ll let the free market decide if it’s a bug or exploit. If so they will fix the code. If not, we have to deal with this.

Sure, if it’s related to peer to peer value transfers of money. Even then they will likely do some and upgrade, isn’t that why they did segwit, fees were getting high.
I’m not even against ‘Ordinals’ in general, but I am against it negatively affecting Bitcoin’s functionality..
segwit wasn't a significant boost. it's impossible to replicate everyone's transactions on every node. blockchains are limited for good reasons and solutions should happen off-chain

it will stop once they've redistributed their sats to other people. Coloured coins didn't catch on in 2015, Ordinals wont last either. Eventually they'll go broke or die trying.
