In Brazil there are places that charge you money to install WhatsApp on your phone for you.

WOW, hard to believe.

Still early 😂

Yikes. That’s crazy.

People there might not be that tech savvy... Supply - Demand... Wait till they get a hold of Nostr...

In USA people don't really grasp that so much business is done using WhatsApp in latin America.

I was always wondering if Nostr could be used to serve the same case. Essentially build business fronts and customer support on Nostr...

sí puede amigo

We also have people that show up to drive for you for a fee when police makes huge DUI checkpoints to screw people

Wenever rains, armies of umbrella salesman show up outa nowhere

An uber driver set up a convenience store inside his car (only to be shut down by stupid state agents)

E pra pagar boleto no seu aplicativo de banco.

O problema eh quando vao pagar boleto na loterica hiuehuehue

Aqui é Brasil 🇧🇷

Why? How does it differ based on location ? Local gov’t control?

What differs?

Places that charges vs places that doesn’t. I think I got it confused -some places pay ppl to use the app?

Whatsapp in Brazil has P2P features too now - users can send up to 5,000 Brazilian Real (US$918) per month to each other free of charge, each transaction capped at 1,000 Brazilian Real (US$184) limit, and max 20 transfers per day. That's 216 million whatsapp users in Brazil whose micro finances will be monitored.

No. Users cannot install the app by themselves, so they pay others to install the app for them on their own phones.

Oh - that’s a pretty high demand among non-tech friendly crowd in Brazil. Whatsapp loves Brazil!

Hopefully Nostr has same hype soon - without charges.

(Thanks for explaining, have not encountered this scenario and brain scrambled for other possibilities)

I've been stunned by the things I've seen repairshopss charging customers for. Installing tempered glass screen protectors, cleaning out charging ports, stuff like that which is about five seconds of not really even work. People keep paying for it though.

How can that be possible?

many people with no education

Outside of US this is somewhat common... at a place where you buy phones there's a dude that helps you set it up with the right apps.

Which - thinking out loud - we need to get that guy to install LN wallets and Nostr clients 😁

Why you assume this is just outside the US?

I never experienced this in the US. That's why.

Your post is attracting a lot of attention.

Is this like Brazilian Geek Squad for older people that don't know how to install apps?

Pics or it didn’t happen 🧐
