Why The Bitcoin Company cannot do this, instead of selling visa cards ?

THIS is real bitcoin adoption not using VISA cards.

This is how you spread the use of Bitcoin and less of fiat.

This is how you make Bitcoin stronger and fiat obsolete.

This is how you start the Bitcoin circular economy.

The Bitcoin Company does accept BTC/LN… what are you saying they should do exactly? Are you saying they should become a pharmacy, or that they should have a completely different business plan that isn’t for helping bitcoiners use their bitcoin, but to create merchant point of sale systems for businesses? I’m really confused with your criticism here. The Bitcoin Company is awesome and extremely valuable for people who live on Bitcoin.

No, what I am saying is that they should sell to merchants, solutions to use Bitcoin, not visa cards. To help them accepting bitcoin and not visa / fiat.

I really do not see how that company is "extremely valuable" for bitcoiners when they push the use of fiat and not bitcoin. The fact that you buy "fiat credits" with sats it doesn't mean the merchant is taking the sats. But the way around, you are literally proliferate the creation of more fake money (fiat). Those tokens on a visa card DO NOT EXIST, are just new IOUs.

Using a VISA card IS NOT "living on bitcoin". You are just going back to fiat, you are not creating a bitcoin circular economy.

Dude I have no idea why you are doubling down on this and turning it into something vastly more than it is.

Helping bitcoiners live on bitcoin but still access dollar payment networks without needing to hold dollars is not at all the “supporting VISA” or “not a real bitcoin standard.” You have falsely equated a payment method with a money.

• A merchant accepting bitcoin is no different. 99% of them do it to immediately convert to fiat. It’s no different than the user doing it first if the merchant still just wants fiat. It’s not special to do it at the merchant step rather than the user step if that’s what the merchant is going to use and they haven’t figured out saving in bitcoin is the only way.

• Literally no one is confused about what fiat is. Bitcoiners don’t buy short term VISA cards because they are confused about whether they want to hold fiat or bitcoin. That isn’t an argument relevant to this issue at all.

Again, you are conflating things that don’t make sense, and then getting angry about it and trying to turn this into some argument about how you understand what fiat is and nobody else does.

If you want more merchant adoption or another point of sale system then by all means go do that, but I use The Bitcoin Company a lot, and it’s specifically because I’m on a bitcoin standard and those prepaid cards are good for spending bitcoin anywhere, protecting my privacy, and protecting from subscription services that charge monthly fees forever. Yes, they are a very valuable company to people who live on bitcoin. As someone who finds them very valuable specifically *because* I live on bitcoin, I’d say I have the closest possible context to make that claim.

Everyone is trying to get off fiat. Theres a thousand different levels and stages for doing that. VISA for payments is literally the least of our concerns, imo.

Nothing to disagree with here except the last point because you are not living on bitcoin. You are just holding bitcoin. Then cashing out more and more.

Is that right? So I don’t get paid in bitcoin, save and use bitcoin, and pay my employees in bitcoin? I don’t know how this happened but thank you for letting me know! 🙄

Its just an illusion. Bitcoins are a token for fiat. You got paid in fiat tokens. Bitcoin is just like USDT only less stable. You are welcome.

So you are just saying that they should make their business the way you want them to and serve the customers that you wish they would rather than what they want to build?

The Bitcoin Company provides me a very valuable service and I appreciate them and really hope they don’t switch to merchant POS systems because that’s not something I need.

Plus, the overwhelming majority of merchants just turn it back into fiat, using bitcoin for payments, and fiat as their money.

IMO the opposite is far more valuable, using Bitcoin as money, and only using fiat for its payment network, until we get to the point where that isn’t necessary. Which occurs when everyone realizes they should save in Bitcoin.

I guess we can just agree to disagree. No disrespect.

This is why Bitcoin is useless. You can't really buy anything in Bitcoin except fiat. And when you do its full KYC or you are not going home with anything except illegal goods on the darkweb.

Nothing useless about illegal goods on the darkweb

Clearly people find illegal goods useful or it wouldnt exist. But for buying anything else, well it is useless because it DOESN'T really exist- you have to cash out first via some exchange, which makes it nothing more than fiat gambling device.

We need something like cryptwerk.com on nostr but with stores that actually accept coin separate from stores that just accept "coin payments" through some third party converter

You can still save it. Saving it and never spending it is still using it.
