If we want to continue the path towards a more transparent economy we must consider that there are currently weak measuring tools of value.

If you “like” it's a nice gesture, it's not offensive, it’s not really anything of value. I want to create emotion in the individual. Thats why I support V4V if i get value I give value.

If you are creating a nostr app for the people and include “reactions” you are continuing these false flags.

Nostr is not for what you are used to. Nostr is not for doing what they did over there. Nostr is for strange weird rebellious people creating the new online world that will welcome all with open loving arms.every single human has that in them.

But how will these people get sats? The same way you did. either buy them from a bitcoiner, or my preference earn them from a bitcoiner. I loosely quote Jeff Booth: “Spend and replace pleb”

Stacker news do it well, zap only and some topics require a zap to post

Or what if they could earn them just from being on Nostr. I'm about to launch a new nostr app that does just this. Here is a draft NIP that we will be building on top of

Oh this looks very interesting

I wonder if onboarding into a zap-only client would incentivize people to explore btc & v4v more. I think if I hadn't known of either, I likely would have explored it right away... but I don't think I fall into common behavior demographics.

I also wonder how replies & conversation would fair if the majority went that way. One thing about likes & reactions that is sort of a positive for the whole, is they create room for signal in replies. There's a sticker reply plague killing any hope for meaningful conversation on fb lately & that whole thing made me think a lot about what a 'like' does actually provide beyond data collection😅 I'm definitely guilty of emoji replies from time to time, but I honestly wonder what percentage of likers would default to that, if they couldn't just click a button.

I appreciate these insights. It has come to my attention that zap and non zaps create a very different feel. I am testing out fountains integration into nostr. The notes I see now have likes as the current version is a direct pull from nostr.

This was me trying to articulate my thoughts and seeing what others contributed, thank you.

I have a Bitcoin knowledge and its how I found nostr & fountain I can't say how one would experience zaps only. However I remember the first time boosting Canadian Bitcoin pod. And it was magic. I earned sats and could then use them to create value for others. I paid for content by the minute and I could expressed my gratitude imerdiatly. Its still such a revolutionary idea.

As for emojis I really try to stick to my analogs besides my ✌️💜⚡🫂

:p :D

I was just kind of thinking aloud too. There's definitely a different feel to it all with every client or app or feature. No one is having the same experience. Which is really cool & weird to think about.

NOSTR is for whatever the person wants to create and find its funding in whatever way it sees fit.

I could just as easily go on some blah blah opinion that zaps are the false messaging as it’s assigning a monetary transaction to something that’s inherently non-transactional (free).

It wouldn’t matter because it’s up to the dev.

Zaps are one of many ways to fund Nostrs devs and servers, but it’s non-essential to NOSTR beyond that.

I would encourage you to have arguments to my thoughts. They need to be strengthed, I need to know where they are weak and either accept its flaw or move on.

I am currently in my car putting off shoveling to respond to these messages as I value the insights and time people put into these notes. I would never force monetary exchange as the only way of value signalling on to anyone, I wouldn't like it. I would appreciate if you could explain more about which interactions are not inherently transactional.

Sorry man. Only had time for the one NOSTR comment tonight. Gotta get kids to bed. I’ll try to add more context later.

No rush read them an extra book tonight
