I have said it before, but whenever the topic comes up I think it is worth repeating...

Govt is a religion, & most of the believers are in denial about its religious nature. Which means it is an unconscious religion for which the root of authority lives in the shadow of most people's minds, allowing it to be much more evil than anything people would consciously accept. The justifications are always lies or delusions or contradictions.

It has songs, symbols, statues, monuments, ritual ceremonies, costumed authorities, sacred halls, sacred texts, black robed interpreters of said texts, violent foreign crusades "to spread democracy," and when all is said & done it's a bunch of people doing horrible things in the name of an imaginary abstraction that no one can point to or really even define (generally only the non-believers can provide a decent definition of govt).

If you don't consciously choose your guiding principles, then something evil will become your god, it's just how people are wired.

I massaged someone who works in government and she was incredibly self absorbed and entitled. A massive sense of self importance despite all the work she was bragging about was a complete waste of money. 1.5 million dollars “to help homeless in Nevada”..? Great. Have fun pocketing what you can while patting yourself on the back claiming the highest virtue.

I suppose the shrinking population is welcome in that context? After all as less people are born and less pay tax and less need houses and house prices fall and the wealth pyramid topples as there aren't any cheap workers left, it solves itself?
