I remember back in the day when "lol" seemed like overkill. Then we got the "๐Ÿ˜†" emoji as a Facebook react. Over time people gravitated to "๐Ÿ˜‚" even though it's so far outside the realm of what people are actually doing. A slight smile, or even a smirk gets a "๐Ÿ˜‚" out of politeness. We never thought anyone would be daft enough to actually use the "๐Ÿคฃ". But more and more people are like "๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ" for even a slight smile. What's next, gen Z? Will you have to invent a new emoji to express the catastrophe of your hilarious laughter? ๐Ÿ’€

Crap, Iโ€™m in my 40s and use ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

All the time..

I will take โ€˜gen zโ€™ as a compliment ๐Ÿซ‚

Retvrn to "haha"

And if it REALLY amuses you... "ahaha"

The rule im using rn is that if something does make me laugh out loud i zap it 100 sats.

Corollary: if you got zapped 100, then you made someone actually laugh.

A laughing skull would be a great emoji for 2023. Can we have one please?
