Seems like a pretty centralised organisational structure for a decentralised protocol. 🤔

I think it would be better for the name to be non proprietary and anyone can organise another conference using the brand if they can get enough traction and gravitational pull. The brand is only as good as those who are willing to support it. It doesn’t exist outside of the people
Just thinking of ways to give a hat tip to this inaugural conference. “Nostrica” doesn’t make sense as an event name anywhere except Costa Rica. But it does make sense as a brand name for signaling when future events are put on in the same spirit as this one was.

Somehow, this is a question of responsibility rather than control though.
Future nostr conferences should be in the US please, I wanted to come to this one so bad. Can we coordinate one in us and one overseas. That way more people have the option of going. I’m more than happy to coordinate with you guys. I’m excellent in event planning. Let me know what’s needed :) @corndalorian @jack
I think the days of thinking things need to be in the US, otherwise it won’t get traction are numbered. The centre of gravity is moving. There are many people who attended #Nostrica who thought more than once, what would my life be like if I lived in Costa Rica? This is the point of Pura Vida. Reimagining the world, reimagining a new life that is not constrained by old ways. The US is now part of the old world.
What about the Nostr Big Things Committee, Nostr BTC?
Really? I thought it would be better to have the Nostr Integrated Cryptocurrency Actuaries oversee the particulars of the next event?
Perhaps Nostrica could create a document with foundational architecture to stimulate self-organizing unconferences that would have resources and frameworks for self-organizing unconferences globally?
I would imagine it is important to prioritize how people organize both virtually and in person to have decentralization at the core.
A partial model to look at is Harley’s ‘Harley Owners Group’s’ guideline is just a document to do as you please and iterate upon as your local group sees fit. This way each self organizing group that wants to frictionlessly and quickly mobilize an unconference doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel.
