I found a house I liked today and tried to schedule a showing. They required proof of funds before showing so I showed them an account balance that had over 6x the home asking price and they asked for more proof of funds because it was crypto. I said you’re also welcome to google my name since I’ve been an owner of a well known business in a certain industry and also the owner of another local business that is still active. They ghosted me.

Fiat brains

should have bought the ETF 🤣

Move to Dubai, problem solved. You are welcome.

Zero chance.

Dumb people

I fully believe that we're not too far away from individuals taking Bitcoin as payment for property.

I'd personally take Bitcoin for my current house in a heartbeat.

I'm not at the stage where I want to peel some sats off to buy property (land - pasture).

It seems like you'd essentially need fiat sitting in your account for 3 months for the banking system to be ok with the cash sale. That thought scares the crap out of me.

I wonder if a Hoseki attestation would help?

Interesting..

idk where your at but you could call a buyers agent and they could show you the house

North Atlanta Suburbs

yeah, call a local buyers agent and they can write the offer and whatnot. you can chose your agent, find one who is a bitcoiner

I did work through an agent and the house requires both buyers agent and seller to be present for showing likely due to value considerations. I also tried calling the sellers agent directly at Sotheby’s and didn’t get a response.

that sucks, fugging clowns

All part of fiat world. House could have gone under contract but they went from asking for proof of funds to ghosting us - oh well.

maybe for the best. get the house for half price in btc if you can wait 6-8 months tbh

Are you getting a mortgage or buying cash?

Ideally mortgage of course but pending market considerations I may have to do cash

You might want to try another lender. In the past when I have shown proof of funds, they just look at the dollar value and accept it. Just like any other portfolio

I wasn’t talking to any lenders just the agents representing the property. And the statement had the dollar amount on it

Oh I got you. Their loss then lol they just lost a potential sell smh

Yep that’s why it’s so dumb

Yeah dump people lol. The last home I bought, I got pre-approval from a lender to speed up the process big time; highly recommend doing that first 😄
