Bitcoin Core needs a time out.

The developers may be technically brilliant, but they have lost ground with the broader community and the many people who have entrusted their life savings to Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is money. Spam has no place on the timechain.

Bitcoin Core must change course

They should continue to ignore manufactured drama like this.

Whats worse, this or kernel dev? 😂

That's a hard question. When you got into a nasty dispute in the kernel, it was usually with a peer who was at least credible in their field.

This stuff is easier to ignore, but there's more of it.

definitely easy to ignore. Feels like it’s mostly just wasting lots of time in a space that already moves pretty slow. I wonder how many years of progress this has set us back.

Also i can’t imagine this getting any better with more users

Create repo for the formal argument for/against. Barrier to entry filter and deduplication. Repeat contributor patterning as prima facie wall of shame.

Wait a year. This will be gone. Some will have learned something, most will have forgotten.

Meanwhile, there is real work to be done.

would you mind sharing the reasons for core30? i would love to understand this better.

i have read a lot about trusting the experts and i have seen ignorance, but knots usage being at almost 20% and growing - wouldnt that suggest educating the public might help stop this trend?

Dismissing it as manufactured eh?

There's about a 45/55 split between Core 29 and Knots 28.

Maybe time to reconsider whether pushing through changes people hate and lying about the rationale isn't the best idea?

(Got the ratio numbers the wrong way around - whoops).

Imagine being dumb enough to count nodes as if they're not trivially gameable.

Doesn’t matter the exact number. There’s been an obvious shift in sentiment from many node runners. The system is working as every node is a vote. Core seems to think they are entitled to do what they want without pushback. Should people be more respectful in the debate? Sure, but this is the internet after all

He knows, but bad actors will do bad actors things

Yeah X is all bots

Nodes are gamed

Couldn’t be that a lot of people actually disagree with Core’s actions

they are gameable for both sides wich should still give a good enough measure.

It sounds like you are against Bitcoin?

Imagine being dumb enough to think that centralising Bitcoin is beneficial to anyone that uses it.

Why do you want to limit who can run a node?

A surprisingly tone-deaf comment from you, Rusty :/

No, really, this is a distraction. All drama, no content.

But being tricked into doing something by a paper tiger is a real category of mistakes.

I will ignore it, continue my work unaffected, and the world will slowly improve.

If you want developers to do your bidding, feel free to interview and hire ones you like. Otherwise, keep crying and accomplishing nothing.

define accomplishment lmao.
