Nostr is proving what I have been saying about Twitter for years; if they integrate Bitcoin they will be the worlds biggest “Financial Institution” ever; the biggest bank with no money, with the greatest number of clients with no accounts, the biggest bank with no branches, money or staff. It could still change everything. Sadly, Elon thinks money is some sort of weird joke. I’m not sure why, and I don’t care much; bigger things are coming.
Discussion
I lost a lot of respect for Elon since he bought Twitter. And I lost my need for Twitter ever since nostr. Long live the 👑
Welcome!

Imagine nostr working off of starlink though
Elon would do well to study the history of money and religion from the time of the ancients to today… much wisdom can be gleaned from studying ancient Hebrew and Sumerian practices around money and debt.
Bitcoin is so obviously the answer that the only explanation for Elon’s ignorance is his Ego
Going to talk about this at upcoming Riga Bitcoin meetup this Friday.
Twitter did integrate Lightning tips though, in pretty much the same way Nostr has. Are you suggesting they need to do more?
You need to think more before replying like this. It’s not a good look!
Good answer. Makes total sense. I can see you have given this a lot of thought.
no, they did not. they integrated the strike api, which is a kyc’d, geo-restricted company. it’s a walled garden on top of the lightning network
You can add any Lightning address to receive tips on Twitter. I know, because I did.
news to me! when did they add this? originally, it was just the strike api, or you could post a static bitcoin address
Not on my Twitter… only the static address
yeah, also didn’t see any mention of this in their docs and have never encountered it in the wild, so inclined to call bullshit
Perhaps there is a gap in my understanding then. I created a new Lightning wallet in Blue Wallet. Went to manage funds -> copied the address. Added it Twitter for tips. So yes, static address - but are payments to this wallet not Lightning payments?
That’s bitcoin indeed. In bluewallet opening a new wallet you can choose 3 types, bitcoin, lightning and vault (multisig bitcoin). There is a color difference between a bitcoin and a lightning wallet so it’s easy to recognize.
Looks like Lightning to me?
You can’t put this address in Twitter. Won’t work.
But I did. And the tip button shows on my profile. So when people make payments to that address, is it not Lightning? And if so, how would the Sats end up in my Lightning wallet? Sorry, I'm not being argumentative, just genuinely confused and trying to learn :)

in the video you posted, that’s an on-chain bitcoin address, not lightning. twitter does allow this, even though it’s a horrible idea. posting a static address for tip jars is terrible for privacy as anyone can look up the address from your profile and see how many times and how much you’ve been tipped

Zapped for 500, sir.
Cuz he gets a lot money for free from tax payers for his “green” initiatives. Don’t bite the hand that feeds.
