besides the fact that i don't like the word "police" in general, there is not much to do ... that's the downside of nostr ... the only thing we can do is ignore those idiots, mute them, and they will lose interest
Policing in the sense of “Protect and serve” the community, the original intent, which doesn’t include the morphed perspective of govt sanctioned stooge.
Not sure if there’s a silver bullet, but these ladies are strong and they shouldn’t be made to feel that there’s no other way but to leave.

The way Coracle implemented WoT helps cause it auto mutes a lot of trolls by default. I think it would be good if other clients implemented the same thing.

Developers are anti this perspective at the protocol level because it’s “hard” and “burdens relays” there is a compromise where application’s can implement such content controls, but i believe it should be at the protocol level.
The protocol level is root layer. I believe it is a layer or two down, at the client or where the community is. I’m not saying that there is not an exception, but there needs to be a process if there is.

I've had one experience with someone on nostr that left me on the floor, tightly curled up having a legit panic attack that left me shakey for days. I muted fast and barely think about it now. Yes, the internet is full of unpleasant people who say stuff they wouldn't in real life and for good reason. That's what I came for, I want to sift through all the spicy, uncool, non-PC BS opinions I can and follow the interesting people. I want to have real, moderation free discussions about stuff with people free enough to express their real mind. Anything that jeopardises that is not worth it sometimes uncomfortable stuff happens, like the panic attack, but freedom is worth that much to me...

That's the thing... Even with that experience, from my perspective there's nothing to fix. I muted, moved on and don't let that creep live rent free in my head. 🤷🏽♀️ I'm half scared of losing the freedom to hear everything I've subscribed to, to learn to implement your solution.

I'm a bit with nostr:npub1q6ya7kz84rfnw6yjmg5kyttuplwpauv43a9ug3cajztx4g0v48eqhtt3sh on this one, the tools already exist, you can block/mute, you can filter words in your client, you can join/create curated/moderated relays. Some people can't/won't do that and leave Nostr, fine, probably its not for them anyway. If we try to impose rules that will affect everyone somehow, it will be worse, it will never be enough, and everything will be segregated instead of open. If someone has a nostr client that is a business, then create a moderated relay, filter on your client and share block lists in your app. That's it.
I'm ignorant on this probably bc I'm a male but, I'm curious why blocking the person doesn't work? I use Amethyst and I block and that's it, works great.
