Click on your user icon in top left of Damus > wallet > should show the NWC connect options. Choose the paste string option.

Tried that too, but can't seem to connect. I believe we've likely hit a bug, since the buttons are cut off the bottom of the screen...

They were for me too, but I was able to just tap the very top edge of the button to get it to work.
