You can on Android but not iOS. App Store policy. Your receive address can be whatever you want.

That’s because Damus doesn’t have a built-in wallet and they were forced to disable note zaps to get approved.
Primal took a different approach where they give Apple their 30% cut on bitcoin purchases so they were allowed to keep the feature. (At least that’s my understanding.)
On Android you can just connect an NWC wallet.
Yeah I thought there was an NWC connect somewhere, but couldn't find it, so was confused.
I feel like Primal is really ruining the whole 'interoperability' thing with a lot of their design choices. This is just one of them.
In this case, there seems to be no simple solution for a new user to use a single wallet or app to send and receive zaps from both/either primal and damus. Sad!
I put the blame mostly on Apple. Developers are trying different things. The bigger problem is LN wallets are still confusing for most new users. Maybe Cashu proofs stored on relays will solve this eventually.
Agreed! But I don't consider myself a new users and now realizing I literally have no idea how to onboard someone from scratch and get them set up with a simple but functional way to zap. 🤔
Yeah, it’s messy. Damus + Coinos isn’t a terrible way to start as long as you explain the custodial risk.

There is no way I am aware of. I’ve asked this several times. I ended up switching to Damus on iOS to have options, which was needed when silly things like images no longer display on Primal app due to some cache server squirrelyness.
Same, I use Damus myself, always have. But was trying to onboard a new nostrich today and finding it frustratingly difficult to get them set up.
Primal has easiest onboarding, but then you are locked to their wallet.
I tried to set them up with Coinos wallet on Damus, but I can figure out how to select Coinos as the default zap wallet on Damus.
WOS no longer available to new users in US so that seems to be out too...
Just use nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 & open a channel with Olympus & be done with the hassle.

Trying to onboard a total newbie so was looking for something simple, hence WOS or Coinos seemed first choices. Was hoping to abstract away the channel setup etc.
Coinos NWC Connect made it easy but you control nothing. I too have tried to avoid the node, channels, and other intricacies of self LNL setup, but see it as the only real way forward. 2025 goal is to run my own node for all.
Yeah it’s a damn shame wos left us high n dry lol but self custody is much better n e ways.

I had these same issues with Primal and couldn’t even get their wallet to work, but Damus + Coinos did the job for me on iOS. I still need a good experience for desktop though.
How did you manage to set up damus + Coinos though? I don't have Coinos in the dropdown Wallet Selector list.
Copy the coinos NWC connection string and manually paste in Damus.

Click on the setting wheel next to the wallet in Coinos
You’ll also have to run the script to turn on the zap icon in Damus which is hidden by default due to Apple Store policy.
In damus go to the profile and change the address there, then in settings look for zaps to choose correct wallet
Right, we've updated their receiving zap address to their new Coinos wallet LN address, but Coinos isn't in the dropdown list under Zaps wallet selector.
Click on coinos home icon then the gears icon on the right. That lets you copy the NWC string
I see same problem with Yanihonne. The drop down with wallet options is limited. I started on Amethyst and maybe I'm mistaken but I'm sure I just added my blink address (a wallet chosen at random). Easy onboard. KISS especially on an open network.
I’m also checking out Nostur. Have not connected wallet yet, but like the rest so far.
Click on your user icon in top left of Damus > wallet > should show the NWC connect options. Choose the paste string option.
On android, you can connect a wallet with Nostr wallet connect to send and receive zaps. On iPhone, npubs can only send zaps from our wallet (due to restrictions), but can change the receiving address.
Yep. When I used Primal I sent from my Primal wallet but received to a cashu wallet address.
OK, finally managed to get Damus connected via NWC to Coinos, but in another twist it seems that Coinos can not zap any primal addresses 🥴 “error retrieving lightning invoice”
