+1 needs to stop!

Disgusting, I wanna shove that gun up his arse and pull the trigger!

what's the deal with Tanzania? pay 2 play?

Sadly corruption at its finest

I wouldn’t believe everything I read on social media…who knows if he’s an actual “convicted poacher” as they claim. Every one of those lions was probably taken legally, or I doubt he’d be posting pics

Define ‘legally’ of killing a lion please?

Well, you need to apply (usually through the outfitter) for a trophy permit, ($30k+) which are given out on a strict quota system by the government. If you don’t have that and kill a lion , there’s a very real possibility you won’t be leaving Tanzania , ever

Very sad and corrupt.

No wonder we are losing lions at an alarming rate. How anyone could kill such a magnificent and majestic creature is beyond comprehension.

Legal hunting is the only thing protecting them. If they have economic value, the government and landowners have a reason to maintain their population and habitat. Compare any species that is legally hunted in say, elephant in Tanzania, to an African country that has no legal hunting like Kenya. DYOR

I do not agree to this. A lot of people are confused with this type of misinformation.

I won’t argue on Nostr over this, we shall agree to disagree.

I wasn’t arguing, merely trying to share my knowledge on a subject I am quite familiar with (my father was a wildlife biologist for 40 years)

Mainstream media misinformation is what I’m fighting, who malign hunting at every turn, like I said, DYOR

I spent some time in Africa recently and I do my own research by speaking directly with proper conservationists. This is a subject that is close to their hearts and the corruption across Africa re trophy hunting is at a highly disturbing and disgraceful level.

How did you DYOR the corruption? Colour chart?

His poaching conviction was from the US hunting whitetail deer without a license in '95. The lions were all sanctioned trophy hunts through the Tanzanian government. Idk if that makes it any better... but he's not poaching the lions.

Again corrupt Tanzania at its finest.

At this rate sadly there won’t be hardly any wild lions left in Africa.

This is where I get off the train.

Killing a lion with a rifle before he can see you is chickensh1t, use a spear if you want my respect.

But denigrating African law in this way is colonialist and racist. Yes, they have corruption. So do we.

Tanzania has ecologists who are far more capable of managing a stable population than a white girl on the other side of the world; who thinks she should get a say in how Africans manage African resources.

Are you referring to me as the ‘white girl on the other side of the world’?

Bloody oath

GFY

Marie we might be friends. My timeline right now.

Depends on if you agree with the uneducated person that enjoys provoking me?

I don’t know if he’s right or what the dude in the original post did or didn’t do. I believe in conservation and sometimes that means killing animals but have no knowledge of African lions. That the best most honest answer I can give you. But even still I don’t believe in the whole sale slaughter of anything.

You two! 👀. Marie prioritizes the well being of the animals over all else, and LIV prioritizes the autonomy of a culture no matter how bad their management of said animals is. You’re both right. Find the balance! Love you both.

It seems he enjoys provoking me as it’s not the first time he has done this.

I don’t appreciate his reference to me, but I do love the ‘mute’ feature here.

Understandable. I politely ducked out of a conversation recently because rather than providing a competent counterpoint, the person started attacking me personally by insulting my IQ. I may be dumb, but I’m intelligent enough to know that people like that aren’t worth conversing with. 😝A little respect for alternative opinions goes a long way!

Exactly 💜🫂

is he taking advantage of a game imbalance in Tanzania?

Corrupt government as well as corrupt so called trophy expeditions.

trophy hunting is for assholes with problems & too much $

💯

Small dick syndrome and the need to feel powerful!

What would be a better way to cope with small dick syndrome? Asking for a friend?

Buying a sports car, that way no wildlife is harmed 🫡

That does sound better, thanks

Maybe he's lion about this?

🧐
