I would say nay
based on...? personal experience?
I grew up with dogs, especially golden retrievers, but for as long as the diet is fairly balanced grains are fine
Thanks for chiming in.
I have no basis for this. Read a long time ago. That because wolves eat their prey mostly down to the bone that they'd eat the stomach contents which contains grains and grasses both 'fresh' and partially digested.
So there is something going on that k9's need in this.
Without they become defficient.
+1 on no grains. It’s filler and not great for dogs. We feed real meat, fruits and veggies when we can. If we have to feed kibble - easier when traveling or hiking, we go with grain free and usually fish.
The number one allergy for most dogs is chicken!!! We avoid all chicken for our dogs unless it from the farmer market.
Using the above guidelines has kept our dogs healthy, strong, and ear infection free.
Dogs are good, therefore they can be allowed to have some grain as a treat if they want

Grains are optional in a dogs diet and should not be fed too much. They are not build to digest raw grains. In the wild they would eat predigested / fermented grains from the stomach of their prey.
IMO a good diet has 70% meat and 30% veggies and and fruits. The ratio of meat can be even higher but always have a look that the dog should have vitamins like D3 and minerals. Good ready-to-eat dogfood will be have them added.
I don't stock fruits or veg because I don't eat them. I feed him eggs and ground beef cooked in ghee butter. I think I cover the macro and micro nutrients 🤔
Beef and egg is a good source of protein as well as the egg yolk gives vitamins. Might wanna add some berries or veggies for further nutrition. TBH I use shelf food (wet and dry) wich contains herbs, apple and potato. I add yoghurt, bentonite and powder of green-lipped mussel. The last two are individually and have a reasoning.
I'll look more into this thank you!
