I see tons of activity when looking at the "nostr firehose" on primal, but it mostly seems like spam...
That’s a wild place 😂 I’ve found that following around 500+ people is a sweet spot for seeing plenty of activity vs. my feed being overwhelmed. I constantly tweak it, unfollowing inactive or spammy people, and following new people who post cool stuff and who reply back.
This might be where my feed is falling short. I mostly hang out on the "trending" feeds and not giving my follows enough attention.
Trending is interesting sometimes but can get repetitive. But if you like the posts that show up there, look in the replies under those posts and follow people commenting there. That will start to improve what you see in your follows feed.
Also look at people whose posts you like in general and see who they follow. Good way to kickstart a good follow list.

Nostr users are quite diverse, even if it’s a small user base. Bitcoiners honestly are too, because Bitcoin is just money, and as it turns out, a lot of different kinds of people use money 😂 Definitely start posting whatever interests you.
