Thanks for checking in, it was an unconventional recovery -

I was restoring a lightning node (on-chain and channel backups). My seed phrase was correct, but the lightning node software could not find the old UTXOs, despite doing multiple indexes/ restores.

So I thought, "no problem, I'll just throw the seed into sparrow and move the funds from there". But for some reason the seeds that Lightning Node generates are non BIP39 compliant (invalid checksum). Which I thought I could still choose to bypass in sparrow but didn't see that option any more.

I had to install "chantools" cli tool to plug my non BIP39 need into to generate a private key (xprv...), then use that to pull the wallet into sparrow. Recovered the funds and then moved them all to a new lightning node wallet 😅

The whole things took a couple of hours and multiple times I had assumed I was using an old seed and had lost the correct one.

First time I'm having to do a real recovery from seed phrase and woof. So far it's been a real pain in the ass

Crow Chronicles # 3

It's getting closer to the fall now and it seems that the juvenile has grown up some. They're not constantly begging for food, and now the three of them sit quietly (sort of) and wait for food.

I've been leaving water out and every so often one of them will knock the water over. I assumed it was an accident at first, now it seems intentional. Just this morning I heard the water get knocked over and went outside to find all three of them sitting in the tree and one of them had taken a giant shit on my porch table. Needless to say I am not happy.

There's one that comes by early in the morning before all the rest. This one never makes any noise and sits on my porch until I come out with some kibble. I like this guy. I cannot tell if this is one of the three who come by later with their juvenile

Three of them come by daily, sometimes twice. In addition to bits of dog kibble, I've been putting out water too. They drink the water and seem to like it, but today one of them started pecking and kicking at the water container and knocked it over. Just testing their limits I guess

People keep talking about AI on-the-fly generated video games. Last time I tried even playing a text based, DND style game with an LLM it completely lost the plot after 20 minutes, forgetting what the game was even about and sending me off to do quests not related at all to the original story.

AFAIK, the transactions aren't happening onchain until you withdraw to an external wallet. So you don't have to worry about UTXO management for something like daily purchases.

Waiting until you hit certain thresholds (1M sats, 5M sats, etc) before withdrawing consolidates all those days of purchasing into one UTXO.
