For anyone who doesn't think an insulated group of odd individuals on a relatively unknown corner of the internet can change the world.. look at 4chan.

the powers that be co-opted 4chan by controlling the admins and flooding it with MAGA q-anon bots.
we'll see if they can do the same to a decentralized protocol
Hopefully AI tooling doesn't make that a possibility. They get better every wave it seems.
I think the web of trust and noub creation dates will make it easy to sort through, but time will tell.
Many of us on nostr are well informed about the threat and vigilant about calling out bullshit.
yeah on nostr reputation is everything and its harder to fake here than on legacy social media. they'll be able to spin up a million fake npubs overnight to follow 1 fake influencer but it'll be a dead giveaway.
I've noticed on previous bot waves there is often a few precursor accounts that have been run by an actual person, getting on many follow lists and integrated into the wot. Then they are the one who leads the rest of the bots into the trusted circle by following them. There is a gang of GM bots used to siphon off zaps that uses this technique. nostr:nprofile1qqsx8x8ptc6pdhsf8wtregu8s0f2v65k2l9s3ja6fup9gmxa2km0rfqppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtcqnlvcl knows more about this than most I think.
definitely
How did 4chan change the world?
I don't know, did it?

I'd guess more than half the successful memes over the last ten years or more started on 4chan. People like Sam Hyde and Nick Fuentes started out there and that culture is going mainstream on x right now (for better or worse)
