This is not directed at anyone individually, because I'm seeing a lot of this in re: the IRS Safe harbor FUD going on right now. For those of you that do not want to comply with US law (IRS, etc) out of principle, or do not want to even take advantage of things that will be to your financial benefit in the future, can I recommend that you change your position and try to stay out of prison please?

And let me say, I agree that it's infuriating and insulting that the government feels entitled to announce that it is giving us new rights that we do, by all accounts, already have. When your master deigns to grant you the right to breath, you are right to feel insulted and furious.
Quit being rational john, I want to talk shit this morning 🤣
No. Thanks, but, the IRS has no right to exist in the first place. Non-compliance is the only effective way to break the back of immoral overreach. More people need to not comply. Yes, it's a risk. I'd rather be the one taking that risk for a better world.
In other words: fuck em.
I'm pretty confused about this new law. Do you have any non legalese resources you can point to or even a concise explanation of what is going on? you'd do us all a world of service🙏
This is the best video Ive found but there are some others out there, nothing is concise because there is no real good guidance from the IRS thats the fundamental problem here is the IRS has left it ambiguous because its the fucking government. So, everyone is scrambling to do their best under the circumstances.
Take a minute & explain. 🙏
Check out this thread where I made some comments:
and this video:
Can we recommend you grow a spine?
I am sure there is a reason you're anonymous?
Yeah because this is the only sm where that's a viable option. The IRS knows who I am. I use an android. I'm sure they get my comments just as soon as you do. Doesn't make them less of an overreach of a private industry posing as a government entity.
Just for adversarial mindsets sake, what happens when you comply your ass off, and they still come throw the book at you and, i dunno, ruin your life still? What then?
Then your life is ruined.
Here's the thing. Do you intend to comply with their rules? Even though now you are only time stamping your assets, do you intend on complying in the future? If so, what is the point of holding bitcoin? Why not just buy the ETF since you are not interested in sovereignty? Either you believe in inviolable property or you don't. There's no "I believe in property rights as long as it's legal." Do you not see the contradiction in freedom if it has to be legalized? If you are scared of prison, let Blackrock hold your coins for you.
I'm noticing a correlation between an npubs being anonymous and their strong feeling that I should commit crimes or be willing to go to jail on principle. Very strange indeed. 🤔
The replies on the post are hilarious.
It’s clear that Bitcoin has not fixed people’s obtuseness.
You do you guys 😆
