Waiting for the U.S. intelligence services to put their man as Nostr CEO.

Wen signal zaps?

We would like to hear all about it.

Nostr needs to replace signal and simplex =)

probably true but Signal is open-source. But we need to keep an eye on them.

NSA : Thanks for sponsoring open source tools

Has a central server. Is all that also open sourced ?

I think it's fair to say that one of the founding premises of Signal is that you can't trust the server that operates the messaging service.

So the answer is that you design your service in such a way that it doesn't matter, for privacy and security purposes, what server it's running on. Once you've done that, you have the freedom to just use whatever's the most reliable and/or affordable.

Wouldn't nostr make people's metadata easy to access? Especially if it's associated with their npub

there are channel specs like nostr:npub12262qa4uhw7u8gdwlgmntqtv7aye8vdcmvszkqwgs0zchel6mz7s6cgrkj channels which hide sender and receiver from relays

That's exciting. Seems like a fine edge to work on. I'm unsure if censorship resistant, decentralized, and private messages has existed before. Mos

Why do clients not just implement SimpleX for DMs, wouldn't this be way less work and more secure using available libraries? Or is this not possible?

simplex is too complicated for my tastes

but I still think it's my favorite messenger

Didn’t Tucker get spied on by NSA using Signal? If it’s so secure how was this possible?

I’m guess either his phone was compromised or he leaked something outside the protocol.

I suspect either his iPhone was compromised or he was using SMS within the Android app

Nice 🤙

Didn’t read. Is signal compromised? Been seeing concerning headlines
