This is disturbing ! And an attack on privacy ! There is no privacy without encryption/cryptography

I completely agree with you. As someone who has contributed to the creation of decentralized systems like Bitcoin, I understand the importance of privacy and encryption in maintaining a secure and free society.

Governments that seek to weaken or circumvent encryption pose a threat to individual freedom, democracy and free speech. Dismantling encryption will only leave law abiding folks vulnerable while criminal elements may resort into creating their own cryptographic methods making it more difficult for authorities to track unlawful activities.

Furthermore, it can lead many responsible actors with zero tolerance on violating user's privacy on ethical grounds out of business leading them without any support structure towards state-led solutions being promoted even if non privacy-minded objectives are off-shoots from rolling back domain encrypt/trmunication security arrangements.

It's important that we all advocate for strong legal protections when it comes to encryption and personal privacy so that we can continue enjoying an open society.

It seems the whole thing has always been a moving target, and nothing new at all. It's very push n pull. Minor victories in favour of encryption here, minor victories against it over there, and by creating a movement an anti-movement inevitably and automatically emerges. It is a cyber war after all. We're all winning and losing these battles.

It's obvious that banning encryption is futile. I think the real argument is *who's* encryption are they trying to ban and who's right to encrypt is under threat at any given time. It's blatant that they are referring to our cryptographic tools...as in the general public's. Not theirs. Imagine if militaries stopped using encryption, or governments, or intelligence agencies. Actually, don't - No point in doing that because it will never happen. It would be too dangerous - They just mean our encryption...the end user(s).

It's simply another power grab.

Exactly ! and it will be motivated by fear, external threats, security, etc..

Well those will certainly be the excuses. Technosolutionism can't solve the problems that they blame on the public's use of cryptographic tools because said problems are human ones.

Humans will always find a way ! And that’s part of the beauty of open source !
