Do we know how much Nostr is bitcoiners talking to bitcoiners about bitcoin.
There is plenty of reasons to be pissed at Twitter right now but it casts a wide net.

Nostr is for everyone. No censorship or topics off limit. Bitcoiners are just the 1st wave of adoption.
This is where specific relays makes sense (sports, news, entertainment) with the ability to toggle them on and off.
Tbh toggling relays isn't a great UX. This ux can be thought through in a different way.
I think zappeddit communities are a good start.
And we can have curators for normal nostr.
I am one of them. I set up my relay, my nip-05 and my PLEBSTR account during Elon's new usage policies announcements. I spend more time here than in twitter. It is far more interesting than twitter right now.
Spend time in Global greeting new users and you’ll see that it’s very little, actually.
This
I rarely post about bitcoin.
I think that over the long term it will become less and less centered on bitcoin. The problem of centralized social media, the disdain for social media algorithms, and the power of micro apps on the protocol will bring non bitcoiners along.
And non bitcoiner swill soon see the power of value for value and the lightning network. They may not start as bitcoiners, but they will likely end up learning more about it.
But they could come over here
That’s OK, still early.
There’s lots of people on Facebook too, certainly doesn’t mean it’s where time is best spent
There's a wider net on nostr because you can talk about ANYTHING you want here. Try pushing the limits on Twitter and compare the two afterwards.
I just reviewed my last 10 or so posts on nostr and the majority weren't even about Bitcoin. It's all what you make of it.
it’s mostly just bitcoiners but it’d be nice to outgrow that
Just here to practice sending zaps!
Hey WBD, Please have American Screamnon as a guest. Fireworks bruv, fireworks.
"American Scream"**
Dunno - but I'm finding Nostr quite likable. #bitcoin
Bitcoiners love this one trick to become immersed in an echo chamber!
As a dual coiner. I've been kinda hesitant talking about Ethereum here lol.
I'm afraid that at the moment you're better off like that, yeah.
But as most Nostriches are aware that open protocols are for everyone you might aswell give it a go and try it out.
Nostr offers some incentives to discuss in a polite manner. You would stress test those incentives within seconds I guess 😂
Haha. I'll speak out about the "programmable money".
I joined Nostr not just because i'll find Bitcoiners here. But also because its permissionless, uncensorable by a single party, and values free speech over controlling speech.
Totally agree on this. I ran into new users who know nothing about bitcoin (neither about nostr) joining Nostr just by curiosity.
#stillearlydays
Twitter will be just twitter influencers worried about losing their twitter following but they will all be on Nostr, BlueSky or the Fediverse.
would enjoy more dev talk, not nostr related
Is that a rhetorical question?
99% i would guess.
Twitter is obviously much broader. But its role as THE global town square was harmful in the end. With the sentiment on Twitter you could push whole nations.
Balkanization of social media is necessary at this stage.
You gotta start somewhere cos even the 1000 miles journey starts with a single step
Why don't you post Real Bedford content over here? We're at the "if not me, then who?" stage, Peter.
Capacity but I do have a social media manager so I’ll introduce him to Nostr this week.
Need more Spurs on nostr now that Postecoglu has arrived!! 🤍😁
be the change you want to see.
All I know is Nostr will win eventually over Twitter and I love that my speech is protected here. Bitcoin and Nostr go hand-in-hand.
I honestly dont miss the mental health drain that is Twitter and the wider shit show narratives. Sober for 3 months. Never felt better.
You still don't understand how your podcast got popular, do you? Hint: it was not because you were casting a broad net. I used to listen to you religiously, but dropped you from my subscription years ago, when you started making the shows about you, your troubles, and your rankings.
I don’t make shows about that, I’ve no idea what you are on about but the show is still doing very well. I think because the show casts a wide net making everyone feel welcome.
Posting on Twitter makes everyone feel welcome? Is this the same Twitter on which you didn't feel welcome, abandoning it and your followers for weeks, spending hours on your show talking about how unfriendly it was, only to now defend it against an open, decentralized alternative, because it is necessary to make everyone feel welcome? It doesn't sound friendly to me. But, I guess it helps pay for your football club, and your pub, and boosts your rankings, which helps your sponsors. I liked you better when you were just a pleb.
I’m sorry I haven’t lived the life you want me to live.
Your interpretation is weird. I said Twitter is a wide net for reaching lots of people about bitcoin, an entirely different point from hostility, which by the way exists on all platforms, even here.
Oh, poor Peter. Taking on all the hostility, from all those nasty people everywhere, just to spread the word of Bitcoin. Thank you.
I really like the show. For me it is about education. Learning and listening to a high Quality lectures. I dont remeber if he was on your show , buy episodes with Jordan B about the ethics or other people that Are great thinkers But can attack it from another Angle would be cool. I have yet to meet many people that can explain bitcoin and dont like the idea. What about Peter Turchin - He have studied why the system break. He may not know anything about bitcoin but would love to hear he try to think about what that could do to the unrest that I predicts will come.
Thanks Peter
Seemed to go through a dark period of introspection following the first Weinstein interview, but the show is seriously back on form now.
True, what is your favorite all time punk band?
I’ve been on here a few months and today is the first day I’ve mentioned Bitcoin in a post. I guess it just depends on who you’re following?
Just checking it out for the very first time. My experience so far has been that the hardest part is figuring out some of the UI quirks and what not. Who to follow is a natural process of seeing nostr keys and following re-nostr?
I do notice that a lot of the people who are more inclined to use decentralized/open sourced platforms like this, care more about privacy, peer 2 peer platforms. Those users are easy to onboard.
I just wonder how many users will not take care of their private keys and eventually lose their account :)
