It is, as far as I can tell, impossible to tell the difference between "making an inane comment on your post to be supportive" and "llm bot spamming".

If I don't learn anything from what you're saying, why say it?

Perhaps I need a client which doesn't show comments more than two hops away in my social graph? Probably too quiet though; I would need many more friends.

Perhaps you can feed AI the writings of people you’d like to have as friends and then request AI replies in the style of a particular person :)

Some AI filtering is probably a happy medium.

AI produces median results, almost by definition. But it's the outliers, the novel, which is interesting, thus worthwhile, on platforms such as this.

Make me ponder, make me wonder!

If my very brief use of “numerical recipes in C” 20 years ago has taught me anything, it’s that one can do all sorts of clever things to optimize multi variable functions. I bet you could make AI give you unexpected results too.

we need tiered feed lists with different levels of WoT.

Right on.

I like comments, definitely worth 10 likes. I prefer comments that are relevant and extensions to my posts rather than somewhat related but off to left field.

Require a zap or pow for comments from outside your social graph, and automatically add people to your social graph (and refund the zap) when you like a comment from them?

Bonus: will make moderating your comment threads feel like watching Adam West's Batman: Pow! Zap!

On the internet nobody knows if you're a bot or just an idiot. But you should simply mute accounts that spew noise without regard for their humanity.

“If I don't learn anything from what you're saying, why say it?” To generally be supportive in a more social manner. To try and create relationships with people you agree with, admire, hope to learn more from. In short, to be nice. Then again, maybe that’s just why I do it and everyone else is a bot.

So the solution for you is https://jumble.social/.

nostur has this feature, works great

The more i know about comments the more I love inane comments.

Dude, get a filter.

This is exactly why I rarely comment on anything. My default is that 99% of the time it adds no value and no one cares what I have to say. Ironic that this falls in the 99% but here we are anyway.
