I’ll be giving a presentation about nostr soon.
What would you focus on knowing that all freedom talking points are out of the presentation?
😅

Where are you giving this talk, North Korea?
Sigh 😔
It is a sad situation. But there are limits on how much I’m willing to put my life one the line for.
Can you at least talk about the censorship resistance and sovereign identity aspects?
I’ll probably write some bullet points and run it by the community here.
I might get away with sovereign identities, I might get a way with language like permission-less development, protocol vs platform. No ads, no enforced algo. Interoperability between apps… etc.
Probably skip Bitcoin.
I think these will pass.
I might include a basic 3 minute explanation of asymmetric cryptography, and how it's used in Bitcoin and nostr, with a diagram or two from Wikipedia
So dive super technical.
I’m fear the audience will not find that engaging enough.
Maybe split it into 3 separate 1-minute explanations sprinkled at beginning/middle/late points in the presentation
How it's used in Bitcoin isn't quite relevant to Nostr.
I know it is partially the same, but Nostr is strictly a network protocol, much simpler than anything involving any blockchain. To involve Bitcoin would be an absurdity. HTTPS is likely more familiar to more people and so is PGP.
I think a basic explanation of Bitcoin is simpler to understand as a second example (aside from nostr)
ill zap you if you can leave out the “b” word in your presentation
The possibilities of Nostr beyond social media (unless the social part is the main topic)
You don’t have to worry about where data comes from if it’s cryptographically signed
Value-for-value and interoperability.
There’s no algorithm. It’s social media like it was the 2000s. You find people online instead of people being fed to you.
Bitcoin core and knots 🤨😅
Nostr = Freedom the website says nostr.com so you can call it nostring
