Thank you for including the #NostrLandFam πŸ«‚

Are they all yours, or from all people. Also how to know the performance of these relays

The operators/owners are shown behind the address. Performance will differ and is based on at least those factors : 1) performance of the server itself 2) speed of internet access, also depending on your location.

My https://at.nostrworks.com has 6 vCPUs and 16GB RAM and can handle many more clients. It is hosted in Vienna/Austria and therefore especially suited for nostriches in Europe, but of course everybody has quick access.

I might try and figure out a monitoring dashboard on a development relay so you can see the performance of my relay. At the minute it is 4cpu and 24gb ram and 100gb disk. Hosted in London

Zap me some sats, I wanna try a paid relay.

Also, how do I actually enable one of them? Is it manually?

You can copy/paste the wss address from the website and add to your relays in your nostr client settings

Nostr.wine needs a price update last time I looked it was 18888

Thank you, will get it updated

Sorry to disagree but if all this goodness goes behind a paywall from the beginning then won’t those following will be lost ? Let’s wait a bit longer perhaps.

Think of paid relays as a low-cost ($0.25-$5) alternative to hosting your own. Read access is open to all and paying just allows your notes to be part of the β€œnon-spam” stream the clients are beginning to show.

Paying supports the decentralised infrastructure that makes nostr work and puts your time and attention behind bitcoin away from spammers.

If it’s free, you are the yield.

I think it's important to realise that there will always be free relays. You'll never get locked into a paid only nostr environment.

My relay is there to give a little something back to the community. There's a small 8888 sat charge but you won't see any spam on it, simply because spammers won't pay if there is a free relay they can spam instead.

Additionally, the paid relays I've used aren't swamped with users so as a result, they are quick.

If you want to try the relay, send me your invoice and I'll repay it.

There will always be the Google Relay. Busy using AI to work out who is really behind your pubkey, and sending you ads via all other routes, even if not Nostr

With the imminent release of 1.1 version of Damus to the App Store you will have a new experience where global is filtered to only paid relays by default. This will almost entirely eliminate the spam and make exploring possible again.

One important thing to do is sign up for a few paid relays to ensure your notes are part of this global conversation. There are many to choose and I would humbly ask that you consider the relay I operate nostream.nostrly.io.
