I have a node question

If There’s a hard fork and i do not wish to update to those new rules, i stay running my version.

However how do i update other things which may occur that i do wish to run without including that hard fork rule set in future

Dumb question perhaps but asking it anyhow, thanks

There are flags that you can put in your config file for your node which will set all the settings, for example on bitcoin core 25 you can set replace by fee to true but it’s not on by default, likewise there are other things you can disable

Is there a place to get info on editing config files so i don’t screw it up royally ?

Honestly I’m not sure my friend 🀣

I have this question too. βœ¨πŸ™

Then I feel 50% less

Dumb, thank you πŸ˜‚

last time it happened it wasnt difficult. there will like be a clear road map from core devs for those of us who dont want to fork.

Not a dumb question at all! You can update your node's software selectively to include desired updates while excluding the hard fork rule set. It's all about choice and staying in control of your node.

Best place to learn this ? I don’t want to remain ignorant

on this kind of stuff πŸ€™

The best place to learn this is on Bitcoin's own GitHub, but it will require a more advanced technical understanding. It's a great opportunity to acquire a new skill like programming.

Another simpler alternative is to engage with the community, as you've been doing. Don't hesitate to ask questions and seek answers. One of Bitcoin's great concepts is precisely the sense of community.

If it goes like 2017, then presumably, each hard fork will be accurately labelled (I.e. bitcoin or bitcoin cash)

Even more so, check the software that you downloaded against the published signature to know that WYSIWYG
