I still love lightning and it will have many use cases, but I can only see it being deployed in specialized domains like people who set up servers and stuff. This is still a huge market.

Bitcoin itself is way easier to run and I think it’s still a good idea to train people to run a node to see their balance privately.

We need something else for *everyone*, maybe thats ecash, maybe its ark, maybe it’s something else we haven’t even thought of yet.

Having multiple ways to interface with bitcoin is not a bad thing, we just need to be clear with the tradeoffs when onboarding users. nostr:note1j2gmp5zefvsrhu5dku88dn5sep9a538hmmax70vhjuqqdez7vm5s4fcgnx

Lightning is for businesses now that transaction fees have risen. This was always going to be the case eventually, but the transition has greatly accelerated.

One thing we've learned at nostr:npub19tcpurtt6xulhw0r6sc404j9jraj0h8me2lzs7z2tqewz7l0hpas59nlea is that business priorities are far different than consumer properties.

Since the lightning economy has shifted and product market fit is now closer with business, it's consumer payments where there remains a gap.

Yeah i run my entire business out of my lightning node. Its great. I wish I could make my setup available to other businesses. I was talking to nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8 about this. Lots of b2b opportunities in lighting still.

Having multiple ways to interface with Bitcoin is good, until it is becomes too confusing for *everyone* trying to determine which type of bitcoin payment or wallet they need to be able to buy a coffee. Hopefully solutions are all compatible with one another or it's just going to force people elsewhere.

I love it too brother! Will it be a pancea? Unlikely IMHO, but also unlikely there will be any "one size fits all" solution.

It's entirely possible that an easy solution to all the problems may never arrive in any of our lifetimes. I don't recall ever thinking that self sovereignty would be easy though.

The last word on home servers has not been spoken. Umbrel is great, but not there yet. Need a plug-n-play Umbrel-like device. It should basically be a toaster for money.

Maybe BitKey is already working on something? nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m
