Why don't you use XMR?

I don't

Any reason behind why?

What do you use it for? Long distance privacy currency? I'm sure I'd use it if I needed something that I wanted to remain private from someone I couldn't meet in person.

Why even look at #altcoins if bitcoin does the job!

How? Bitcoin doesn't do the job if you're looking for low fees, privacy, and fungibility without middlemen, custodianship, or permissioned networks

😉

We all long for 3 things; bitcoins value, general financial privacy, less government control?

Future;

Long bitcoin?

XMR for everyday transactions?

If it’s digital money I would receive it, but I know nothing about it (yet)

You can download Cake wallet and swap in the wallet for it. Cheaper fees to swap also.

Thank you! I just realized I’ve already downloaded that #xmr wallet.

Cake Wallet is great. Stack Wallet and Monerujo are also popular open source non-custodial mobile wallets.

Try them all see which one you like the most

monerujo.io (Android)

stackwallet.com (Android and iOS)

Very cheap fees (under one cent) and strong default privacy

You don't have to give up custody, ask permission, or go thru middlemen either like Ecash, Liquid, and Lightning

Yes

If you think of it all as currency, xmr has its place where needed.

Everything is a tool to obtain a result, you just need to know when each tool is needed and if its going to be relevant in the future.

Dont know enough about it. With bitcoin/nostr getting my first zap set off a whole learning journey and I jumped in. I think I will get there with XMR. Would be cool to be able to zap XMR. Zapping is honestly an amazing onboarding experience for any digital currency.

Do you have a suggestion best way to start? I see Cake wallet mentioned.

Cake Wallet is one of the best XMR wallets. I think there was a Nostr bridge that lets people zap with XMR, too, but I'm not sure what the progress is.

There is a now archived, full node on a phone: https://github.com/CryptoGrampy/xmr-pocket-node

Back when I tried it, wallets couldn't use localhost or 127.0.0.1. It may work with Cake Wallet now, but everyone would advise against it.

There is a relay that accepts XMR: https://github.com/pluja/nerostr

It only needs docker, so I may try setting one up 🤔

Im not a good on-boarder...

Thanks for the info! Well I have Cake wallet now. You are at least that good at onboarding.

At least I helped one person 😆👍

XMR is better for privacy, and BTC is better for saving, but neither has a local market, and I don't want to buy trinkets online.

Someday, I may see how to live off one, but it's quite risky relying on a company to convert to fiat to pay bills when that company could rug at any point.
